Background On 5th May 2011, Palace Group handed over ten (10) computers to Eqinisweni Secondary School in Ivory Park. The aim of this initiative is to foster a lasting relationship with the school, particularly as Palace Group plans to construct an energy efficient multimedia centre at the school. More about the handover Whilst in discussion with the management of the school regarding the development of the project, it was evident that there were many other needs by the school to advance some of its educational plans. Amongst these, the lack of information technology infrastructure was noted by Palace Group. It was then that Palace Group committed to donate these computers to the school's already existing computer laboratory. Gift bags containing wallets and money boxes were also donated to the learners as a reiteration of the overall theme of the event, which was 'savings'. The items were well received by the Department of Education (DoE) Johannesburg District Director, Mr. J.B. Matabane who thanked Palace Group and indicated that this is a sign that the school is growing from strength to strength. The event was also attended by the Principal of the school, Mr. J.S. Kunene and Deputy Principal, Mr. D. Mangoale. The teachers and learners were also present to witness and receive the items. "Education is a societal initiative, a goal that is realized through the establishment of such partnerships", says Mr. J.S. Kunene, Principal of Eqinisweni.
